Local Author and RSI Parent reads to Sra. Michelli's Classrom

RSI is fortunate to have families who often share their gifts and talents with our school community. Last Tuesday, students in Sra. Michelli's classroom had the opportunity to have local author Paulette Bonneur and RSI parent come read to her class. In honor of Black history month, Sra. Michelli wanted to provide her students an opportunity to have Mrs. Bonneur and her daughter Harper who have published seven children's books together come read one of their books. Students were surprised to see a classmate (someone who they knew)  represented in the magic of print. 

We know that books offer a valuable opportunity to to bring our student's languages, cultures, histories, and voices into our classroom. What a powerful moment when that experience can mirror, celebrate, and reflect the rich diversity found within our own school community!
