Welcome to 3rd Grade!
Welcome to third grade! We are looking forward to a school year filled with learning, caring, and growing. This year we will continue implementing the Responsive Classroom Program; learning through social interactions. We are excited about the program and have high hopes for the students.
Responsive Classroom is the foundation of our community building through daily Morning Meetings. The social skills taught are Cooperation, Assertion, Responsibility, Empathy, and Self-control. The first letter of each word spells CARES, and we will be working at creating a caring community. Until we have established our rules as a community in the classroom, we will be using CARES as the rules.
As always, the most important thing that you can do to help your third grader is to read, read, and read some more! In addition to reading, discussing the story with your child by making connections to their lives and also asking higher level questions that make children think are important ways to help students understand what they are reading.
In third grade, a weekly calendar that shows what homework is assigned for the week will be used. This weekly calendar will go home on Mondays and remember to please send the homework sheet back to school everyday in the “CASA FOLDER” so that additions or changes can be made. There is a space for you to sign your name but this is not required in all classes.
Thank you in advance for entrusting us with your children and your commitment in building a partnership with us!
